Moving Toward Evidence-Based Housing Programs for Persons with Mental Illness in Contact with the Justice System

Publication year: 2006 | Cataloged on: Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: The need for community-based housing options specifically for mentally ill offenders is discussed. Strategies for housing offenders with mental illness are different than those for individuals who have not been involved in the justice system. "In summary, when criminal justice system contact is added to the mix of characteristics of clients served by current housing options targeting persons with mental illness, some issues may be more relevant/salient than others [i.e., housing first or housing ready]" (p. 2).
