ANNOTATION: Survey results from 50 paroling authorities (45 states, U.S. Parole Commission, U.S. Air Force Parole Board, National Parole Board of Canada, Ontario Parole Board, and the British Columbia Parole Board) are provided. Topics covered include: releasing authority and other duties; prison population, releases, and supervision; violation hearings, revocations, and successful discharge; inmates considered for parole and face-to-face hearings; comparison by type of those offenders released in 2005; code of ethics and whether newly appointed members have to sign it; possession of a written training curriculum and whether a newly appointed member must complete it before conducting a hearing; did the board have an increase or decrease in their 2004/05 budget; lifers and parole; and changes in responsibility either administratively or statutorily since the 2004 survey;
