ANNOTATION: A statistical overview of case processing in the federal criminal justice system is presented. The seven chapters comprising this document provide information concerning: arrests for Federal offenses, prosecution, pretrial release, adjudication, sentencing, appeals, and corrections. Chapter notes describe the data used in the tables and information relevant to the interpretation of individual tables. Also included are a description of the methodology used in analyzing data and developing tables and a glossary of terms used in the Compendium.
