ANNOTATION: The effectiveness of institutionally-based Violence Prevention Program (VPP) is examined. Sections following an executive summary are: introduction; method; results according to equivalence of VPP and comparison groups, referral criteria, VPP completers and non-completers, institutional incidents, release, rates of failure and recidivism, and the impact of the VPP on failure and recidivism; discussion; and conclusion. Results show that VPP is an effective intervention only for those offenders that complete the program.
