ANNOTATION: Results of a performance audit of the Colorado Department of Corrections' Inmate Benefits Application Assistance process are reported. The process "assist[s] and expedit[es] the inmate application process for receipt of medical assistance or supplemental security income prior to release and in providing education concerning supplemental security income processes" (p. ii). Following a report summary and overview are the following areas of findings and recommendations: assistance implementation; application assistance; identifying potentially eligible inmates; processing applications; application assistance data; and eligibility assistance training.
