ANNOTATION: Policy options that address the projected growth of Texas prisoners while increasing public safety are described. Proposed number of beds, turnover per year, placements, anticipated net widening, placements taking into account projected net widening, projected returns to prison, net diversions, and other impacts are provided for the following policy options: Intermediate Sanction Facilities (ISF), Probation Residential Treatment, In-Prison Therapeutic Community (IPTC), Substance Abuse Felony Punishment (SAFP), DWI Prison Treatment, and Parole Halfway Houses.
