ANNOTATION: The ability of mentoring to reduce re-offending is examined. This report is comprised of the following sections: introduction; key points; method; mentoring; the studies analyzed; results; variations in features of the mentoring interventions; policy implications; and conclusions and research implications. Eighteen mentoring studies (two from England and Wales) are assessed. "Mentoring is a promising, but not proven intervention" (p. 9).
