ANNOTATION: Information regarding the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI) can be found at this website. "Established after the demise of publicly supported prison education [which reduced reincarceration rates from 60% to 15% over 20 years] in 1995, BPI is one of only a handful of existing programs of its kind left" in the U.S. (p. 1). In addition to articles, and links to material about BPI, there is the CBS News 60 Minutes feature about BPI entitled "Maximum Security Education" which aired April 15, 2007.
