Lethal Injection for Execution: Chemical Asphyxiation?
Publication year:
2007
| Cataloged on:
May. 15, 2007
ANNOTATION: The use of the three-drug (thiopental, pancuronium bromide, and potassium chloride) lethal injection protocol is investigated. Sections of this article following an abstract are: introduction; methods; results from North Carolina and California executions; and discussion regarding insufficient anesthesia, no clinical research concerning the protocols efficacy, and problems with bolus dosing. It appears that the current protocol for lethal injection is not reliable and deeply flawed.
