ANNOTATION: An animal-assisted therapy and education program, Project Second Chance, is described. "Project Second Chance, a training program in Albuquerque, New Mexico, teams older teenage offenders with shelter dogs to foster empathy, community responsibility, kindness, and an awareness of healthy social interactions" (p. 1). This youth-intervention program is a partnership between the Youth Diagnostic and Development Center of New Mexico and the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, Inc.
