ANNOTATION: Results derived from the use of the Massachusetts Youth Screening Instrument, Version 2 (MAYSI~2) "to assess the climate in Pennsylvania's secure detention facilities around the mental health needs of detained youth particularly establishing the prevalence of mental illness symptoms" are presented (p. 3). Sections of this report are: executive summary; the screening tool -- MAYSI~2; administration of the MAYSI~2; findings according to overall, gender, age, and race/ethnicity; other considerations; conclusions; and project successes and next steps. Of those youth screened, 71% need follow up care.
