ANNOTATION: This report "examines the findings of the Mental Health Assessment of Youth in Detention project and formulates recommendations for future work with youth in Pennsylvania's detention centers, particularly those with mental health needs" (p. 1). These five parts follow an executive summary: introduction; adoption and implementation of mental health screening; the need for mental health responses to youths in Pennsylvania detention centers; mental health screening -- uses, consequences, and unintended benefits; and recommendations.
