ANNOTATION: The issue of women receiving lesser sentences than men in spite of sentencing guidelines is addressed. Sections comprising this paper include: abstract; introduction; literature review; data challenge; econometric model; decomposing sentencing differentials; results; and conclusion. On average, women receive sentences that are two years less than the sentences given to men.
