ANNOTATION: Results from a process and impact evaluation of two Florida state-operated Faith- and Character-Based Correctional Institutions (FCBIs), Lawtey for men and Hillsborough for women, are provided. Sections following an executive summary are: introduction; research design and evaluation methods; the FCBI mission; the FCBI Model: staff and volunteers, inmates, and programs; successes and challenges; overall opinion; outcomes according to source data, characteristics of FCBI inmates, the FCBI experience, and recidivism outcome analysis; and discussion and implications. No male FCBI inmates had recidivated six months after release.
