ANNOTATION: The reduction of re-offending by custodial or non-custodial sentences is evaluated. Six sections make up this review: synopsis; abstract; review strategy; description of the selected studies and findings; discussion; and conclusions. "According to the results [of the meta-analysis], non-custodial sanctions are not beneficial in terms of lower rates of re-offending beyond random effects" (p. 1).
