ANNOTATION: The effectiveness of criminal justice drug diversion programs is evaluated. Sections of this report include: introduction; conceptual underpinnings of diversionary options; evaluating the programs; police drug diversion initiatives; intermediate court-based drug initiatives; drug courts; discussion and conclusion; and Web-based information about drug diversion programs. While results are generally positive, most outcomes are based on early development stages, not current operations.
