ANNOTATION: The ability of risk assessment instruments to accurately predict the recidivism of male spouse abusers is examined. This report contains these sections; abstract; introduction; method; results; discussion; and implications for practice. While most tools exhibited moderate predictive accuracy, the "most accurate tools were those in which the items were selected empirically (i.e., based on observed predictors in group data)" (p. i).
