ANNOTATION: Activities of New York City's Day Custody Program (DCP) during its second operational year are evaluated. This report is divided into four parts: the Day Custody Program; DCP's second year sentenced cases, rejected cases, and re-arrests of defendants in DCP-sentenced cases; comparing recidivism between DCP-sentenced cases and defendant's and those in a pre-program period; and summary. Rates for re-arrest of eligible DCP-sentenced defendants within five months of completion is 44.9% compared to a rate of 54.3% for pre-program defendants.
