ANNOTATION: The ability of ex-offenders to find employment after their release from prison in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas is examined. This Brief contains the following sections: description of respondents; pre-prison employment experiences; in-prison programming and work experience; employment experiences -- two months after release; eight months after release; identifying predictors of employment success; and summary and policy implications. Only 45% of the respondents were employed eight months after release from prison.
