ANNOTATION: Evidence concerning COMPAS' (Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions) quality is evaluated. Following an executive summary, the text is divided into three parts: description and assessment context; summarizing and analyzing the COMPAS reports provided -- Northpointe Institute (2002) (New York probation sample), Lin (2007) (parolee needs in California, and Northpointe Institute (2006) (California parole sample); and conclusion. "Given the current state of evidence, we [the authors] cannot recommend the COMPAS with individual offenders" (p. 6).
