ANNOTATION: This act covers the release from prison or jail of terminally ill inmates into supervised community confinement. The legislation covers the treatment of an “inmate [that] has a terminal or severely incapacitating medical condition and that care outside the jail [or prison] is medically appropriate…[as determined by the department director of medical care or treating jail physician] in a hospital or other appropriate care facility, such as a nursing home, residential care facility or a facility that is a licensed hospice program (p. 5 and 8).
