ANNOTATION: This study “seeks to inform the design for a subsequent prospective research project [“recommended to specifically examine changes in psychological functioning of mentally ill and non-mentally ill as a result of administrative segregation placements”] while providing basic statistics about Colorado administrative segregation” (p. 7). Sections following an executive summary include: introduction/background; population comparisons; longitudinal analysis—length of stay, return to administrative segregation, recidivism, institutional behavior, and trend of segregating mentally ill offenders; administrative segregation hearings; and discussion.
