ANNOTATION: “This study identifie[s] a number of challenges and protective factors in the reintegration process, as identified by women who have been successful in their return to the community after a period of federal incarceration” (p. 36). Sections of this report include: executive summary; introduction; method; results for recruitment and participant sample characteristics, challenges to reintegration, protective factors, and other comments (i.e., needs and advice to other women); and discussion. The largest challenge the women face is the initial adjustment to living in the community. The most mentioned protective factor is a personal decision to live a crime-free and/or drug-free life.
