The Presentence Investigation Report. Rev. [ed.]

While this guide for U.S. probation officers “provides a uniform format for presentence reports throughout the Federal judiciary,” it can be useful for other agencies in their efforts to standardize presentence investigation reporting (p.i-1). Chapters contained in this publication are: the presentence investigation report in the federal system; the presentence investigation; the presentence report for an individual defendant; disclosure and the addendum process; sentencing recommendation and justification; and court-ordered corrections, confidentiality, and other postsentence issues. Appendixes provide: sample standard guideline presentence reports; non-guideline misdemeanor presentence reports; modified presentence investigation reports; supplemental reports to the Bureau of Prisons and treaty transfer presentence reports; presentence report for an organizational defendant; and model sentencing language.
