ANNOTATION: This report and accompanying presentation slides assess the U.S. Bureau of Prisons’ effectiveness in reasonably evaluating its Elderly Offender Pilot Program. The GAO “identified limitations in BOP’s evaluation of the Pilot and cost estimates that raise questions about the reliability of the evaluation for estimating future costs and informing policy decisions” (p. 2).
