(Offender Management)
Maryland's Proactive Community Supervision (PCS) strategy is described. PCS "has a behavioral management component, [and is] designed to create a social learning environment where the emphasis is on supervisees becoming law-abiding, productive, and responsible during the supervision period" (p. 31). This article covers: preventive efforts in PCS; Maryland's business process underscoring PCS; PCS model of supervision -- defining a case plan; goals of a supervision plan; employing a preventive model to reduce violations; Maryland O-SELF (Offender Self-Assessment) tool; the agent's role in supervision; and supervision as an intervention.
