NIC Public Hearing - August 2012

The next public hearing of the National Institute of Corrections, scheduled for August, also signals the need for reform, but with regard to fiscal decision making. The hearing will focus on cost containment, emphasizing ways that corrections can improve its stewardship with taxpayer funds and apply its resources in smarter ways—through partnerships, effective programming, and evidence-based practices—to save or stretch existing funds. We will highlight cost saving measures relevant for all corrections disciplines, from jails and prisons to community corrections.
