Offender Workforce Development Specialist Partnership Training Program
Note: The training program is a series of three 1-week training blocks. Participants are expected to attend all three blocks within the series. Prior to the first day of class during week 1, participants are required to attend an evening orientation meeting.

Overview
Having a long lasting effect on inmate outcomes and transitioning offenders requires more than good intentions. To be truly effective, workforce development professionals must have a deep, rigorous knowledge of the skills and processes related to their field. This competency based training focuses on these essential skills and teaches participants how to develop their own training and workforce development services tailored to the needs of their agency.
This training addresses numerous competencies, including career development theory and application, ethics training for the career development facilitator, and transition interventions for the offender population. The two week program consists of classroom instruction supplemented by 80 hours of mandatory e learning coursework, compulsory hands on practice in applying theories learned in the classroom, and required homework assignments. Each of the two weeks of the program is held approximately 12 weeks apart to allow time to complete the assignments during the interval.
Successful completion of the OWDS Partnership Training meets the requirements for certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator through the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc. Participants can also earn continuing education units (CEUs) and may qualify for undergraduate or graduate level college credit.
Audience
Individuals responsible for providing workforce development services for individuals with criminal records, and individuals from organizations that work with the corrections agencies to assist these individuals with workforce development are encouraged to apply. Up to 30 participants may apply to attend this program at a host site.
