Planning and Implementing Effective Mental Health Services in Jails
Apr. 18, 2017 - Apr. 20, 2017--Planning and Implementing Effective Mental Health Services in Jails
Local jails face significant challenges in managing inmates who are mentally ill. Often jails do not have the trained personnel or other resources to provide adequate services to these inmates and would benefit greatly from a working relationship with the community's mental health service provider. The purpose of this training is to help local jail practitioners and mental health service providers (1) understand key elements of effective mental health services for jail inmates, and (2) forge a productive working relationship that facilitates the provisions of services for offenders with mental illness.
Audience: 3 person teams from jails/detention centers will be considered. The teams should consist of Director/Deputy Director, Mental Health Director/Lead Mental Health Clinician, and a Community Mental Health Partner.
