ANNOTATION: A collection of resources for use in a correctional facility Career Center is provided on these 3 computer disks. Contents include (1) a computer assisted Career Clerk training program. Modules of this course are: what the job of a Career Clerk is; what knowledge is needed; what materials can be used; and what skills are needed. (2) O*NET Career Exploration Tools, a group of career counseling assessment tools developed by the U.S. Department of Labors Employment and Training Administration. (3) Staff Handbook -- a guide for institutional staff regarding Career Centers. This document provides an overview of a Career Center and explains Career Clerk selection and training, marketing Career Centers, and evaluating the services of the Career Center. (4) Clerk Guide -- a resource for inmates employed in Career Centers. This guide explains: what it means to be a Career Clerk; what the goals of a Clerks work with offenders are; how a Clerk will work with offenders; and what the resources in a Career Center are. And (5) Participants Workbook and Facilitators Notes for a training program designed for inmates who wish to learn more about the world of work and prepare for their transition from prison to the community. Chapters included in the workbook are: learning about career planning; learning about your interests and skills; finding jobs where you can use your interests and skills; learning about jobs; making choices about life roles; finding out what kind of education or training you need; finding a job; and keeping your job. (6) Career Resource Video Library that provides an exploration of 14 occupational categories. (7) Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2004-05 Edition. And (8) Career Guide to Industries, 2004-05 Edition.
