Testing Probation Outcomes in an Evidence-Based Practice Setting: Reduced Caseload Size and Intensive Supervision Effectiveness

The use of caseload reduction combined with the evidence based practice (EBP) of optimal allocation of supervision resources is examined. The authors conclude that reduced caseloads in an agency utilizing evidence-based practices 'probably reduce criminal recidivism and probably do not increase revocations for technical violations' (p. 233). Sections contained in this article include: introduction; background and literature review; research question and methodology; how does intensive supervision probation (ISP) differ from high-normal supervision; results; and discussion.
