Correctional leaders face significant challenges regarding gender-informed facility operations, policy and procedure, and the development and implementation of evidence-based programs and service needs of women. NIC is inviting teams of two or three for this 36-hour training program, designed to assist senior managers and administrators of women's facilities in correctional policy and operational practices that are effective and appropriate to the population. The Learning modules, (Women's Pathways to Confinement, Ethics, Behavioral Health, Sexual Misconduct, Communication Styles, and more, are based on research that explores critical gender differences while avoiding an over-identification of issues that may be common to male and female populations.
Applying: There will be a total of 24 participants. Please send the following information to Evelyn Bush, NPA, at e1bush@bop.gov with the names and titles of the requesting two- or three-person team. Members should be at the rank or function or position comparable to that of Major up to that of Warden. Submissions are due no later than March 1, 2025
Successful applicants will have advance travel arranged via NIC and reimbursed lodging and meals.
