The Management Development for Minorities and Women course is a 40-hour training for minorities and women who have been recently promoted to a supervisory position, or who have expressed a desire to move into a supervisory position. The training will offer participants the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills vital to their development as effective managers and leaders in corrections. Program content will include the challenges to career advancement faced by minorities and women in corrections; the identification of managerial and leadership styles; problem solving; attitudinal barriers faced by minorities and women; the development of goals and an action plan to guide the development of his/her career as a manager; exploration of their agency mission as it relates to mid-management advancement and much more.
This will be a regional training held at the Mississippi DOC from March 10, 2025 - March 14, 2025. Participants will be selected by the agency.
