The Jail System

New Hampshire has 10 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 10 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 1,837 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the New Hampshire prison population was 2,897. The New Hampshire Department of Corrections managed four correctional facilities.

The Community Corrections System

As of Dec. 31, 2015, there were 3,861 adults on probation and 2,451 adults on parole.

The Jail System

Nevada has 17 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 25 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 6,810 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Nevada prison population was 13,071. The Nevada Department of Corrections operates 7 institutions, 10 conservation camps, and two transitional housing centers.

The Jail System

Nebraska has 93 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 63 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 3,480 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Nebraska prison population was 5,372. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has seven adult and juvenile facilities, including a Diagnostic & Evaluation Center.

The Jail System

Montana has 56 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 42 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 2,870 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Montana prison population was 3,685. The Montana Department of Corrections has eight state run facilities for adults and juveniles.

The Community Corrections System

The Department of Corrections' Probation and Parole Bureau supervises approximately 9,100 offenders in the community. The Bureau has 153 officers in 23 field offices.

The Jail System

Missouri has 115 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 104 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 11,430 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Missouri prison population was 32,330. The Missouri Department of Corrections operates 21 correctional facilities. The Department's total budget for FY2016 was $710 million.

The Jail System

Mississippi has 82 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 97 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 13,390 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Mississippi prison population was 18,911. The Department operates 3 state prisons, 15 regional facilities, and contracts with 4 private prisons.

The Community Corrections System

The Mississippi Department of Corrections' Community Corrections Division supervised 31,485 probationers and 7,806 parolees on March 1, 2016.

The Jail System

Minnesota has 87 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 76 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 6,400 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Minnesota prison population was 10,798. The Minnesota DOC employed 4,357 staff members at the beginning of FY2016.

The Community Corrections System

As of Dec. 31, 2015, there were 98,258 adults on probation. Minnesota does not have a parole board, rather it has instituted Determinant Sentencing with no time off for good behavior.

The Jail System

Michigan has 83 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 87 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 16,350 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Michigan prison population was 42,628. The Michigan Department of Corrections operates 26 correctional facilities.

The Community Corrections System

As of December 31, 2015, there were 175,965 probationers and 17,909 parolees under supervision.

The Jail System

Massachusetts has 14 counties of which 7 are geographical census areas. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 18 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 10,350 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Massachusetts prison population was 9,922. For FY2013 the Department had a budget of $546 million and employed 5,233 FTE's.

The Jail System

Maryland has 24 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 32 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 11,520 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Maryland prison population was 20,764. The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Division of Correction operates 24 prisons and pre-release centers.

The Community Corrections System

As of Dec. 31, 2015, there were 76,505 adults on probation and 10,887 adults on parole.
