The National Institute of Corrections partnered recently with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction to offer Learning and Performance Coach. This 36-hour blended training targets the importance of building and using effective on-the-job coaching techniques. Throughout the course, participants learn about the new roles that learning and performance coaches are playing in their organizations’ success, and they gain new and updated ideas and skills for facilitating others’ learning. It is an extension of the Field Training Officer On the Job training program previously offered by NIC. Virtual sessions were conducted on October 16, 23, and 30, and in-person sessions were held on November 5 and 6 at the North Carolina Department of Correction Training Academy in Apex, North Carolina.
Spencer Noble, Training Director for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, has discussed using this model to enhance their current Field Training Officer Programs.
