The Jail System

Nevada has 17 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 25 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 6,810 inmates.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Nevada prison population was 13,071. The Nevada Department of Corrections operates 7 institutions, 10 conservation camps, and two transitional housing centers.

The Community Corrections System

The Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation supervises approximately 19,000 probationers and parolees state-wide. The Division has ten regional offices throughout the state.
