The Prison and Jail System
Delaware has a unified system which means there is an integrated state-level prison and jail system. There are six states with unified systems. They are: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
As of December 31, 2016, Delaware has 3 counties with 11 facilities and an incarcerated population of 6,585. There are 2,500 staff positions with a budget of $155 million.
The Community Corrections System
