As of December 31, 2018, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of the State of Maine correctional authorities was 2,425 located in 6 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. Maine operated facilities had a budget of $44.2 million.

As of December 31, 2018, Maine community corrections population was 6,742 under probation and 20 under parole. Maine lawmakers eliminated parole on May 1, 1976.
