As of December 31, 2019, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of the State of Arizona correctional authorities was 40,951 located in 14 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. Arizona operated facilities had a staff of 9,579 employees and a budget of $932,731,597.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2019, Arizona community corrections population was 78,214 under probation and 7,114 under parole.
