As of December 31, 2019, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of Wisconsin correctional authorities was 23,956 located in 18 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. State operated facilities had a staff of 10,128 employees and budget of $1,276,230,700

As of December 31, 2019, Wisconsin's community corrections population was 42,693 under probation and 22,292 under parole.
