As of December 31, 2020, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of the State of Arizona correctional authorities was 37,731 located in 14 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. Arizona operated facilities had a staff of 9,579 employees and a budget of $1,149,085,945.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2020, Arizona community corrections population was 72,946 under probation and 6,887 under parole.
