Delaware has a unified system, which means there is an integrated state-level prison and jail system. There are six states with unified systems. They are: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
As of December 31, 2020, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of State of Delaware correctional authorities was 4,710 located in 4 state facilities. The Delaware Department of Corrections had a staff of 2,412 employees and a budget of $348.5 million.

As of December 31, 2020, Delaware community corrections population was 10,150 under probation and 373 under parole.
