As of December 31, 2020, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of the State of Minnesota correctional authorities was 8,148 located in 11 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. Minnesota operated facilities had a staff of 4,384 employees and a budget of $632,104,000.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2020, Minnesota community corrections population was 85,254 under probation and 7,359 under parole.
