As of December 31, 2020, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of Tennessee correctional authorities was 22,685 located in 9 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. State operated facilities had a staff of 6,428 employees and a budget of $1,121,142,900.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2020, Tennessee community corrections population was 60,550 under probation and 12,407 under parole.
