As of December 31, 2021, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of the State of Arizona correctional authorities was 33,914 located in 12 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. Arizona operated facilities had a staff of roughly 10,000 employees.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2021, Arizona community corrections population was 69,557 under probation and 6,873 under parole.
