As of December 31, 2021, the number of prisoners under the jurisdiction of Utah correctional authorities was 5,902 located in 2 state prisons and held in custody of private prisons or local jails. State operated facilities had a staff of 2,300 employees and a budget of $ 363,874,000.
The Community Corrections System
As of December 31, 2021, Utah community corrections population was 10,321 under probation and 3,858 under parole.
