Evidence-based Practices (EBP)

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the objective use of current research and data to guide policy and practice decisions, improving consumer outcomes. EBP emphasizes effective approaches supported by empirical research rather than anecdotal evidence.

EBP is built on three key components: clearly defined outcomes; measurable results; and practical realities (such as recidivism or victim satisfaction). While often used interchangeably with other terms, EBP is particularly suited for disciplines focused on measurable outcomes.
