The Jail System

Connecticut has 8 counties. Due to Connecticut's combined jail-prison system, there are no locally operated jails.

The Prison System

As of December 31, 2015, the Connecticut prison population was 15,816. The Connecticut Department of Correction operates a combined jail-prison system which housed approximately 16,023 offenders as of June 30, 2015. There are 15 correctional facilities and 5 parole and community services offices.

The Community Corrections System

The Office of Adult Probation supervised 41,331 total probationers as of January 1, 2016. In FY 2015, the Parole and Community Services Division supervised 3,944 offenders in the community.
