The Jail System
Nebraska has 93 counties. According to surveys completed in 2013, there are 63 jail and adult detention facilities, with a population of 3,480 inmates.
The Prison System
As of December 31, 2015, the Nebraska prison population was 5,372. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has seven adult and juvenile facilities, including a Diagnostic & Evaluation Center.
The Community Corrections System
From January to June 2015, there were almost 22,000 offenders served by probation in Nebraska. As of December 31, 2015, Nebraska had 1,043 parolees.
