The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships across the corrections field during the Correctional Leadership Association Conference held in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

NIC Director Patrick Mirandy was joined by Community Services Division Chief Robbye Braxton, Acting Prisons Division Chief Scott Richards, and National Programs Advisor Kendall Rhyne to reintroduce NIC’s mission, services, and collaborative opportunities to correctional leaders representing 47 jurisdictions.

During the conference, Director Mirandy highlighted NIC’s longstanding contributions to the field of corrections and emphasized NIC’s capacity to support jurisdictions through access to subject matter experts and technical assistance designed for systemic change. He emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships among professional organizations, including the Correctional Leadership Association and the American Correctional Association, to name a few, from across all intersections of corrections.

Director Mirandy’s central theme is NIC’s value of sustained collaboration and shared leadership in addressing the evolving challenges facing correctional systems nationwide. Director Mirandy expressed a strong commitment to ensuring NIC maintains an active and visible presence within key professional associations, fostering dialogue and advancing collective solutions.

The response from attendees was positive, with some leaders noting their appreciation for NIC’s renewed visibility and engagement. The conference was a sign of important steps in reinforcing NIC’s role as a trusted partner and resource for correctional agencies across the country.
